How do you know if you have a Food Intolerance?. There are many expensive food intolerance tests you can do, but are they reliable?
Food intolerances are on the rise - more people are reacting to previously every day foods such as milk, bread, corn and soy products (a common additive).
The most common intolerances are gluten (in wheat and some other grains), dairy, eggs, soy, corn, nuts and nightshade vegetables.
But technically a person can be intolerant to any food.
An intolerance is different to an allergy - it's a different reactive system in the body, even though symptoms may be similar.
The common difference is that allergic reactions are usually severe and come on quickly (such as hives, or vomiting, or an anaphylactic reaction).
Intolerances are much more subtle and tend to come on more slowly, often up to three days later, or after an accumulation of eating the food for a few days consecutively.
So if blood, stool, urine, skin prick and electromagnetic tests are unreliable - people have sent the same samples to the same company on the same day and received different results! - how do you figure out if you have a food intolerance?
In this video I'll explain how to do a 30 day elimination challenge and how to evaluate the results.
